The last two months saw quite a bit of progress on the remake. Looking back at the post #4, that had the same numbered youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0tjDcA08iU) – all I had were proto structures with some interactable NPCs inside.
Now, 10 videos further, I have 15 videos uploaded showing how gradually the remake comes to be. The latest one shows a party with equipment, movable portraits and reactions. There’s stats and skills in the game, some spells, mini-map with the Wizard’s Eye, learning skills, chests, and so on.
I never did a write-up of what’s needed, as: there’s so much, anything that comes to mind I should likely work on.
At this point, however, there might already be some parts done, for example: NPC interaction is mostly done, minus the training grounds and bug fixes.
I know for sure there are big features still missing:
- Casting variety of spells
- Better “stopping of time” on Pause or browsing inventory
- Combat!
- Dungeons
- Save/Load
The end goal is to have the Emerald Island remade. I would then check on how much effort would it be to maybe also have the Harmondale lands – not in order to add, but just to see if there’s anything I can do to make adding new locations easier, before going further.
Once the Emerald World is “complete”, I’d either continue (unlikely) or replace the assets (likely I would need to hire some graphic artists to replace the existing assets – at least the set of those will be known ahead of time).
